Susurros del Ruiz S.A.S. is a Colombian company that grows, buys and processes mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) in San Sebastián de Mariquita, in the department of Tolima. It was founded in 2026 and it operates from Finca El Bosque, in the Las Huacas district.
We are processors, not only growers. We farm our own land, we buy harvest from growers across the region, and we turn the fruit into frozen pulp and dehydrated powder. We take first, second and third grade fruit, because processing uses what the fresh market sends back — which is also what makes buying from neighbouring growers worthwhile for them.
The mangosteen we work with is covered by the protected designation of origin "Mangostino de Mariquita", declared by Colombia's Superintendency of Industry and Commerce on 25 February 2026, with no oppositions, under Andean Community Decision 486. It covers six municipalities in northern Tolima: San Sebastián de Mariquita, Armero-Guayabal, Falan, Palocabildo, Honda and Fresno. It is the first protected designation of origin for a fruit in Tolima. Use is authorised by the Chamber of Commerce of Honda, Guaduas and Northern Tolima.
The farm holds a current ICA registration, the entry requirement for exporting fresh fruit from Colombia. Global G.A.P. certification is in progress and has not yet been obtained. Every pick is recorded with its lot number, date and weight, so any shipment can be traced back to the lot it came from.
Nicolás Gómez, co-founder and agronomist, runs the farm and the raw material. He created Asomangostino in 2021, the growers' association of Mariquita and neighbouring municipalities, and took part in the designation-of-origin process through it. Chef Michael Oviedo, co-founder, trained at the Mariano Moreno culinary school in Bogotá and cooked in Peru and Spain, including in a Michelin-starred kitchen; he designs the formula and sensory profile of every lot.
